Polishing the slab you have
This suits a sound slab where you're fine seeing its character, marks and all. It's the most direct route to a polished floor, since we work the concrete that's already there.
Dull, stained or patchy concrete? We grind it in steps to the stone and sheen you picked, after showing you what your slab will reveal.

Polished concrete flooring in Concord, CA is bare concrete ground with machines in steps until the whole surface is refined, so you end up with a hard, shiny floor and no coating on top. Concord Precision Epoxy Flooring polishes floors in homes, garages, basements and shops.
Most people who call about polishing have a slab they'd like to show off, or one they've just found under old carpet or tile and want to know what it'll look like. The price moves with the size of the floor, its condition, how much stone you want showing and how high a shine you want, because more stone and more shine both take more grinding passes. The schedule mostly depends on the slab itself, meaning any cracks or old patches to deal with, and on whether the city needs a permit. I'll give you your own figure in a written estimate once I've seen the floor.
I come out to look at every job and write the estimate myself, and I'm on site working with our crew when the job gets done. The person who told you what your slab will show is the same one watching the grind.
Most failed floors I've looked at went wrong because of what was under them. Since I started this business in Concord in 2023, checking the slab has come first, so you hear about cracks, patches and uneven spots before you pick a finish.
Your written estimate explains why we suggested the stone class and sheen we did, so you're not taking a finish on faith. If something doesn't make sense, ask, and I'll go through it with you. Your satisfaction, guaranteed.
We're licensed and insured. If you'd like to go over either before we start, ask when I come out to look at your floor and I'll walk you through it. To set up that visit, call (925) 536-0504 or use the form on this page.
We reply to calls and messages within one business day, and the on-site estimate is free with no pressure to book. After you reach out, I come look at your floor, check what's on it and how it's holding up, and give you a written estimate with the reasons behind it.
In Concord, the city's Permit Center handles permits, and its Project Pal tool shows which permits a project needs and estimates the fees. I don't assume a floor job does or doesn't need one, so before we schedule, we check with the city or county office that covers your address, and if your job needs a permit, we take care of the application and plan the work around it. If you'd rather ask yourself, the Building Division answers at 925-671-3107, weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Concrete also contains crystalline silica, and Cal/OSHA sets standards to control how much of it workers are exposed to, because it can cause silicosis, an incurable lung disease, as well as lung cancer and kidney disease. We plan the grind around those standards before it starts.
Around Concord we see plenty of garage and basement slabs that have been patched over the years, and older floors coming out from under carpet or tile. That history is exactly what a polish brings out, so it's the first thing I look for. We do the same work in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill and the other cities around us.
Polishing concrete across the US usually costs about $8 to $9 per square foot. That's a national figure and a starting point, not our price, and your slab's condition, the stone and sheen you pick and any repairs all move it. We're based in Concord and work in the cities around it, and I'll give you a Concord number in writing after seeing the floor.
Yes, usually. On an existing slab, old repairs and cracks become visible once it's polished, and an uneven floor shows its stone unevenly. That's why we go over it before we start, and if you'd rather not see those marks, a polished overlay is the other route.
Not by the numbers we've seen. In reported tests, slip resistance changed with gloss level but not with how much stone showed, and every result well exceeded the required slip rating, even at very high gloss. A wet floor still deserves care, like any hard floor.
Keep stains and chemicals off it, because that's its weak point. Compared with coatings, polished concrete costs little to keep up over the years, but it has limited resistance to stains and chemicals, so wipe up spills like oil or cleaners quickly. If the room sees a lot of chemicals, ask me whether a coating would suit it better.
In California, the C-8 Concrete Contractor class covers contractors who form, pour, place, finish and install flat and other concrete work. It's a fair question to ask anyone who quotes your floor.
Call (925) 536-0504 or use the form on this page, and have the room size handy along with photos of any cracks or repairs, since those show after polishing. I'll come out, look at the floor and write up what I'd suggest and why.
