Epoxy Floor Coatings in Concord CA - a coating that stays bonded to your slab

Dusty, stained or peeling concrete? We fix the slab first, then put down an epoxy coating that's easy to clean and holds up.

Gray flake epoxy coating covers a clean garage floor beneath an open garage door.

Is an epoxy coating right for your concrete floor?

Epoxy floor coatings in Concord turn a bare or worn concrete floor in a garage, basement or other room into a hard, sealed surface, so it stops dusting and staining and cleans up with a mop.

Most people call us because the floor is dusty, stained with oil or has an old coating flaking off in patches. I own Concord Precision Epoxy Flooring, we're based in Concord, and we work in the cities around it, from Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill out to Antioch and over to Vallejo. The price mostly comes down to how big the floor is, how much concrete grinding and surface preparation the slab needs before the coating, and which system you pick. The schedule turns on how dry and how old your concrete is and how long the coating needs to cure before you walk or park on it. I look at the floor in person and give you a written estimate that explains each of those for your slab.

How we put down an epoxy floor coating

Before any epoxy goes down, I check the slab for moisture, cracks and chipped spots, because most failed floors I've looked at went wrong underneath, not in the coating itself. We repair the cracks and chips first so the coating sits on solid, even concrete instead of stretching over a gap that shows through later. Then we grind the floor to take off old paint, sealer and the weak top skin of the concrete, since epoxy needs clean, open concrete to grab onto. We clean up the dust and roll the epoxy on in coats, and if you want surer footing, we mix grit into the coating so it's less slick under shoes and tires.

A lot of our epoxy work is in garages, and if that's your floor, our page on garage floor coatings covers the oil, hot tires and car traffic a garage slab deals with. Shops, warehouses and other businesses have heavier traffic and tighter schedules, so we plan those as commercial and industrial epoxy floor coatings.

Epoxy with grit mixed in

This suits garages, laundry rooms and any floor that gets wet or sees a lot of foot traffic, because the grit gives your shoes and tires something to grip. It's a little harder to mop than a smooth finish, and on most floors I'd still take that trade.

Smooth, glossy epoxy finish

This suits dry rooms like a basement, hobby room or storage space, where easy cleaning and a bright look matter more than grip. It wipes clean quickly, but it can get slick when it's wet, so I don't recommend it near doors that bring in rain.

Why Concord homeowners call Concord Precision Epoxy Flooring for epoxy floors

The owner comes out and works the job

I come out to look at every floor and write the estimate myself, so the person pricing your job is the one who's seen your slab. When the work gets done, I'm on site with our crew. I started this business in Concord in 2023.

You'll know why we picked the system

Your written estimate lays out what I found on the floor and why I'm recommending the coating I am. If a stain or a sealer would serve you better for less money, I'll tell you, because a floor that fits how you use it matters more than a bigger job.

Licensed and insured for your floor

We're licensed and insured for the work we do in your home or business. Our promise is simple. Your satisfaction, guaranteed. When you're ready to talk about your floor, call (925) 536-0504 or send the form below, and I'll set up a time to come take a look.

Get a written estimate for your epoxy floor coating

We reply to calls and messages within one business day, and the estimate is free, done on site and comes with no obligation. I'll come look at the floor, check what's on it and how it's holding up, then give you a written estimate with the reasons behind it. It helps to have the floor's rough size, how old the concrete is and whether there's old tile or coating on it.

Epoxy floor coatings in Concord and the cities around it

Concord keeps a list of new work that needs a building permit, but the list isn't complete, so if your job isn't on it, the city's Building Division is the place to ask, at 925-671-3107 or bldgpermits@cityofconcord.org, and staff try to reply within 24 hours. Permit or not, work in Concord has to meet the city's construction codes and development standards. Before we schedule, we check with the city or county office that covers your address, and if your floor needs a permit, we take care of the application and plan the job around it.

Around Concord we see a lot of garages with oil stains and tired paint, and spare rooms where old tile came up and left glue behind. Thin glue usually comes off with shotblasting, a machine that throws steel shot at the floor, while thicker layers need grinding too, which is one reason the estimate depends on what's on your slab. We do the same work in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill and the other cities nearby.

Questions about epoxy floors in Concord

How much does an epoxy floor coating cost in Concord?

Around the Bay Area, an epoxy floor coating usually costs about $7 to $10 per square foot, and that covers materials, floor prep and application. Where your floor lands in that range depends mostly on how much repair and prep the slab needs and which finish you choose. I'll measure the floor and explain the price in your written estimate.

Is an epoxy garage floor slippery when it's wet?

Epoxy can be slippery, but grit added to the coating makes it less slick, and we can mix it in for you. A concrete stain costs less than epoxy and can be less slippery depending on how the concrete was finished. If grip and budget matter most, it's worth pricing both, and our stained concrete flooring page explains that option.

What causes an epoxy floor to peel or bubble?

Too much moisture in the concrete is a common cause, because it can discolor the coating, interrupt its curing and make it lift off the slab. That's why we check moisture before we coat, as described above. It's fair to ask any crew how they'll prep your floor, since high-pressure water jetting puts a lot of water into the concrete.

How long do I have to wait to coat a new concrete slab?

One epoxy maker's instructions call for new concrete to cure at least 28 days before its coating goes on. The product we choose for your floor may ask for something different, so we check its instructions. If your slab is new, we plan the coating for after that wait.

How long before I can walk on or park on a new epoxy floor?

The coating cures in stages, first for foot traffic, then for light use, then for full normal use, and the temperature in the space sets how long each stage takes. We'll tell you the times for the product we're using in your space before we start. That way you can plan to keep the car out and the boxes off until it's ready.
